Authenticity of the setting Empty Authenticity of the setting

After playing NWN 2 for about 3/4 of a decade I have played on many different kinds of servers, and there is one thing don't seem all the important on servers, that the NPCs you talk to have a personality, and that you can speak to an NPC who seems to be like a person.

A server that I enjoyed the most was called Sea of Dragons and it had all kinds of interesting NPCs, and it made the server feel much more full with life.

I'm right with you on this, we are looking into ways to have the NPC's contribute to the setting more then just a random scatter in the background. One thing I'm big on is players being able to interact with the world and NPC's are one of the first interactions a player gets when entering for the first time.

Some things I have in mind are merchant stalls with the NPC's calling out their goods, guards giving you a stern look as you walk by. Some others would be NPC's offering jobs, giving rumors and some other things you would witness as a bystander, a guard stopping some other npc for questioning or a slave being whipped for slacking off.

If you have any other ideas of what we can add please shoot them here and we'll see if we can get them in.

- Merchant caravans some places by the roads.
- NPC adventurers (for hire?).
- Commoners traveling (point a to b escort?).
- Nobles traveling (point a to b escort?).

This is a fantastic idea, Themistocles Smile We'll definitely be talking about it, now. If you have any more ideas or suggestions for NPC's that go beyond a DM possessing it, please bring them up here!
