Kaedrin's Content

Oh hai.

I was wondering about the server's thoughts on Kaedrin's work. Were you planning to include it? Maybe see if he'd be interested in supporting it with his work? I know that his upcoming updates are one of the primary reasons I'm still interested in a certain server, so it'd be lovely to see here.

Especially those new classes he's developing. Mmmm.

I would also be curious to know such things!

We're going to get in contact with Kaedrin. We can't make any promises either way, but we're really aiming to incorporate his content.

Good to hear it. I'm sure a lot of players would greatly enjoy having the option on the server.

Do we know yet what classes will be available on the server?

Will Arcane Scholar of Candlekeep, be a class option?
Will it be ASOC by Lore, or will it be a non-Candlekeep specific Arcane Scholar?

Not many decisions have been finalised yet, but we're getting rid of Ninja since it makes no sense in the setting.

As for Arcane Scholar, I have no idea. It's not really a high priority. By Lore the class isn't restricted to Candlekeep though, it says so in the description, so I doubt we'll be changing it. It's open to any dedicated mage, as a class option.

So you are dropping Monk too? Eastern kung-fu masters make just as much sense as ninjas.

Do note that I am not masking this in a snide, mocking manner..... I earnestly have never seen the point of these things in a D&D setting, but I know there are lots of fans of them.

Monks are found all over Faerun, they're a pretty universal thing. Ninjas, however, are something unique to the Far East. This is subject to change, maybe, but since it was a rarely-played class, that was almost never RP'd by anyone who actually took it, and wasn't normally found in the setting regardless, it made sense to remove it.

This may be subject to change though, bear in mind. This is just the decision as it currently stands, which frankly isn't all that decisive.

I would nuke all of the Far East content completely out of D&D if I could, but the others won't let me.

So apparently Ninjas weren't removed, as there's a Shou embassy in the city. I've been told to put it back in. >.< I missed the part of the discussion when that became relevant.

However, anyone taking the class is still expected to RP it in an appropriate manner, and include relevant history for their character. One of our DMs has taken responsibility for the class, so she's gonna make sure it's played properly, and help people with it if they're not sure.

Will it become an App only class?

Reading bios for class/race apps is a tedious job, so I am not attempting to increase your work load. I was just trying to get a feel for how those would be handled. Will it be like people wanting to play a Red Wizard?

No, it won't. We're trying to avoid apps, if at all possible. The DM in question will just correct people if she sees them being played wrong, or badly.

Slightly off topic but...

If you guys wanted someone to vett bios and apps for certain classes/races/unusual backgrounds, I'd be more than happy to stick my hand up.

Just to take a bit of the load off once the server goes up. Wouldn't mean a staff position or nothing but could simply help sift through the obvious nos and pass on a short list to y'all for the final stamp of kittens and rainbows.
